Questions
How is net salary calculated in Denmark?
First an 8% labour market contribution (AM-bidrag) is deducted. The rest is taxed by the bottom-bracket tax (12.01%) and municipal tax (averaging 25.1%), after the employment and personal allowances, plus 15% top tax on income above the threshold.
Which municipal rate should I use?
The default is the national average of about 25.1%. Municipal rates range from roughly 22% to 27%; enter yours for a more accurate result. Copenhagen, for example, is around 23.4%.
How accurate is it?
It uses the 2025 rates, the employment and personal allowances, and 15% top tax, so it is a close estimate. It excludes the optional church tax and the overall tax ceiling, and assumes a single taxpayer, so your exact figure may vary by a few percent.
